Heuchera, which is also commonly known as Coral Bells, are native to North America. Like Caladiums, they are more often grown for their foliage than their blooms. Heuchera can be planted in containers, borders and garden beds. This evergreen perennial comes in traditional green-leaved varieties and in the bold newer variegations.

Growing Instructions
Plant Heuchera in the spring after all danger of frost has passed in a full sun to partially shaded area. Soil Preparation: The ideal soil is porous and drains well and yet still holds enough water for the roots. If your soil is heavy clay and drains slowly or very sandy and does not hold water, add organic soil amendments (peat moss and ground bark). Spread a 3-4" layer of soil amendment, add fertilizer and incorporate together into the soil to a depth of 10". Planting: Dig a hole. Place root in hole so that the top of the plant sits 1-2" below the surface. Watering: Water thoroughly at planting. White actively growing, water frequently and thoroughly so that water will reach the roots. Mulching: Mulch to keep the soil cool and to prevent the soil from drying out. Fertilizing: Apply fertilizer before and after flowering.
Care Tip
Cut back the entire flower stalk after blooming to put the plant's energy into growing more leaves. Heuchera likes a neutral to slightly acidic soil pH, somewhere between 6.0 and 7.0. Good drainage is a must, especially in shaded areas. Sitting in the damp soil will cause the crown to rot.
