Weigela is a tough, easy to grow arching flowering shrub that grows 4-6' high with approximately the same spread. Excellent for general garden use, accent, mass planting, or hedge. Easy to grow, tough shrub. NOTE: What we ship is two year old ROOT STOCK, ranging 12-18 inches in height and is not a fully grown foliated potted plant.
About this Variety
1" pink blooms attract hummingbirds. Variegated leaves make this shrub a focal point in any garden. It is a vigorous, upright-to-spreading, deciduous shrub with oval to elliptic leaves which turn deep purple in spring. Plum purple branches add interest to the landscape. The flowers are showy, long lasting and old fashioned with a heritage. Attracts hummingbirds. Under ideal conditions it can possibly live up to 30 years.

Growing Instructions
Soil Preparation: Weigela prefers rich, well drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Planting: Dig a hole. Prepare soil in an area 2-3' wide and 18-24" deep. Mix into the native soil either peat moss or compost, one-third by volume, to help improve drainage. Plant 6' apart. Watering: Water at planting, but do not overwater. Keep soil moist and water frequently. Fertilizing: Apply fertilizer before and after flowering. Do not over fertilize.
Care Tip
Prune to shape immediately after flowering and remove any dead or broken branches. Prune in early spring to reduce size and to remove older stems before blooms appear. Pruning branch tips encourages blooming.
